BLACK PANTHER WOMAN premieres worldwide at the Sydney Film Festival June 12

This deep and very personal story is told with unflinching honesty by Marlene as she goes back 40 years to her time as a member of the Black Panther Party and works her way back to today.

In doing so, she breaks a 40 year code of silence to tell the story of her own abuse in the Australian Black protest movement to try and deal with her demons of today. Still struggling with addiction, she reveals the secrets she has held onto.

Cowritten by Marlene, and written, directed and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Rachel Perkins (Bran Nue Dae, First Australians, Mabo, Redfern Now), the film premieres worldwide at the Sydney Film Festival on June 12 at Event Cinema 9, George St, Sydney at 6.00 pm.
